Return to Play

SOUTH FAYETTE SOCCER ASSOCIATION RETURN TO PLAY PROTOCOL

In accordance with the applicable Orders entered by Governor Wolf, and directive on Return to Play from PaWest Soccer Association, the following serves a South Fayette Soccer’s Return to Play protocol.  SFSA is committed to adhering to federal, state, and local guidelines and directives.  SFSA Guidelines were developed based on current circumstances, and will evolve as circumstances warrant. 

Below are the responsibilities of the Association, Coaches, Parents and Players.

Association:

·         Distribute and post Return to Play protocols

·         Be sensitive and accommodating to parents that may be uncomfortable with returning to play

·         Provide hand sanitizer to all coaches for use at games and practices as necessary

·         Notify members, PaWest, South Fayette Township and other effected Clubs if SFSA becomes aware that a participant or other attendee tested positive for COVID-19 and may have been infectious to others at an event

·         Should a positive test be reported, all those in contact with the person (player(s), coach(es), parent(s), referee(s) shall not be permitted to attend or participate in any SFSA activities for a period of at least 14 days

·         Inquire as to the health of all players before the start of any training, practice, game or other activity; players who do not feel well will be told to return home

·         Ensure that all players have their individual equipment (ball, water, shin guards, gloves, etc.)

·         Limit at any field to 90 persons maximum including players, spectators, coaches and referees

·         Schedule practices and games at staggered times

·         The SFSA President shall be the point of contact for all COVID-19 matters

·         Collect signed acknowledgments of the risks associated with return to play from all parents/coaches

Coaches:

·         Follow all Return to Play protocols

·         Collect signed acknowledgement from all players/parents before participation in the first event, practice or game of the season, and return to the respective Division Coordinator

·         Stay home if you are sick

·         Inquire as to the health of all players before the start of any practice or game; players who do not feel well must be told to return home

·         Ensure all players have their individual equipment (ball, water, shin guards, gloves, etc.)

·         Coach is the only person to touch cones, training equipment, etc.

·         Avoid the use of pinnies. To the extent they are used, it will be the coach’s responsibility to ensure that the pinnies are washed after each use

·         Respect players, parents, and families by accommodating players who may not be ready to return to play

·         Goal keeper gloves will never be shared

·         Wash hands before and after practices and games, and use hand sanitizer at breaks

·         Ensure that hand sanitizer is available at every bench

·         Start and end practice on time

·         Ensure that players keep their equipment, water, etc. 6 feet away from other any other player’s property (set up cones if necessary to mark off each players’ respective area)

·         Maintain social distancing during team huddles

·         There will be no post-game handshakes, etc.

·         No post-game/practice snacks

·         Coaches are expected to follow federal, state and local law on wearing masks

·         Notify SFSA immediately if you learn that a coach or player has developed COVID-19 and may have been infectious to others at an event

·         Masks shall be worn

Parents:

·         When you return to play is completely up to you.  You are the only one who decides when your child returns to play

·         Return signed acknowledgment to our child’s coach(es) before the first event, practice or game that the child attends

·         Adhere to Return to Play protocol and share with your child

·         Check your child’s temperature before each game or practice

·         Keep your child home if sick

·         Stay home if you are sick

·         Ensure your child has adequate water

·         Ensure your child has individual equipment (ball, water, shinguards, cleats, gloves)

·         Stay in your vehicle during practice

·         Spectators at games will be limited to 2 persons per player; those in the same group may sit together but must maintain a minimum of 6 feet from any other spectators

·         Adhere to government imposed social distancing and mask requirements when attending a game

·         Ensure all equipment (cleats, ball, shin guards, etc.) are sanitized before and after every training session

·         Notify your child’s coach immediately if your child becomes ill for any reason

·         Ensure that your child has hand sanitizer with him or her at all practices and games

·         Have your child thoroughly wash hands before any practice or game

·         Prompt arrival and departure from all practices and games

·         No post-game/practice snacks

·         Notify SFSA immediately if you learn that your child or other persona attending an event has developed COVID-19 and may have been infectious to others

·         Masks shall be worn to the extent required by state, local and/or federal law

Players:

·         Adhere to all Return to Play Protocol; failure to do so will result in you being asked to leave

·         No player shall be allowed to participate in any event, practice or game until a signed acknowledgment is returned

·         Do not under any circumstances attend evaluations if you are sick

·         If you are not comfortable with returning to play, DON’T

·         Wash hands thoroughly before and after evaluations

·         Use hand sanitizer during breaks

·         Wash and sanitize training equipment (shoes, shin guards, clothing) before and after evaluations

·         Do not share water, food, or equipment, including soccer balls

·         Respect and practice social distancing

·         Place equipment, bags, water, etc. at designated areas at least 6 feet apart

·         No high 5s, handshakes, fist-bumps, or group celebrations

·         When not training or playing in a game, adhere to government imposed social distancing and mask requirements
